5 Vegetarian Friendly Places to Try in Singapore

Famous food paradise Singapore is a melting pot of the Asian cuisines that offer delicious food. From farm-to-table restaurants to veggie burgers, you will never complain about the lack of vegetarian or vegan dining options in Singapore. Even if you are not a vegetarian, many of the vegetarian restaurants in Singapore are worth a visit. We've listed our top five restaurants in Singapore that are worth for a vegetarian to visit.

Joie by Dozo Restaurant

Located on the roof top garden of Orchard Central, Joie (pronounced ‘joy’) by Dozo Restaurant, presents a refreshing concept that specializes in modern meatless cuisine. Influenced by the new wave dining trend in Europe and Taiwan that focuses on uplifting and innovative natural fare prepared with the freshest vegetables, fruits and herbs, owner of Joie, Mr Huang Yen Kun looks to conjure the same fervor in Singapore.

In line with Dozo’s famous set menu concept, its unique presentation and creativity, and using many uncommon ingredients, diners can choose from an elaborate six-course lunch or seven-course dinner consisting of contemporary dishes with Japanese-European sensibilities and flavours.

Surrounded by Orchard Central’s serene rooftop garden, Joie is a sanctuary above the bustle of the busy Orchard shopping district, affording sweeping views of nearby Somerset and Orchard Road. We are greeted by a luminous dining room with light streaming in from its floor to ceiling windows. Bronze and grey overtones dot the space with a contemporary chic ambience from the bronze light fixtures and the grey tiled floor.

Loving Hut

We’ve have heard so much about Loving Hut from many vegetarian friends, as the brand has over 200 branches worldwide.

The restaurant serves both local and Western vegan dishes and aims to encourage guests to consume food with lower calories and go for healthier options when dining out. We tried Almond Crumb Fillet, Masak Buah Keluak and their signature Nyonya Laksa Lemak. All these dishes are 500 calories or less.

For meat lovers out there, who have prejudice about vegan food, our suggestion is to try Loving Hut’s vegan dishes and not compare them to meat dishes you are used to, appreciate them as they are.

Potato Head Folk

Potato Head Folk is hosted in an iconic four-level heritage building in Chinatown and is home to a speakeasy cocktail bar Studio 1939, a gourmet burger joint Three Buns, and a tropical rooftop bar.

Three Buns takes up the first two levels, alongside handpainted murals and curios galore. The place is East meets West in “badass burger” form with an Asian twist. Once you’re done with food, move on to drinks at Studio1939 Lounge, a decadent drinking den with an ever-evolving cocktail menu. The focus here is on the craft each bartender brings to the glass and the fresh ingredients that go in it.

If you’d rather be sipping on craft cocktails under the stars, The Rooftop offers tropical cocktails, Balearic beats, and a sunset-over-the-skyline backdrop, all nestled within one leafy locale.
