This Neal’s Yard coffee shop makes a toast to ‘Hygge’, health, and happiness! (And it also makes lots of porridge). Proprietor, Alex Hely-Hutchinson, successfully recreates the essence of Copenhagen’s coffee scene and the Danish appreciation of grain. Here you’ll find porridge options for vegans; almond milk oats, lime, kithul treacle chilli cashews, coconut yoghurt is one of our favorites. Or yellow daal, garlic yoghurt, spelt flatbread for vegetarians.
Granger & Co is about sunny, healthy food, and exhibits plant-forward originality (the Japanese brunch bowl is vegan-dreamy). Creativity and ethics are commendable. But in the British sense of the word, the food here is fine – not exceptional, not terrible.
Pavillion is another one of our favorite brunch spots in East London, excellently located with great views of the Victoria Park. Whether after a morning run or long liquid night, Pavilion cafe offers simple yet satisfying menu, organic produce and vegetarian options.
The name, cool interior, and Stoke Newington fan club queuing outside imply, Good Egg is a destination diner. The food itself is fine, rather than egg-straordinary (sorry!). The other clue in the title is that vegan isn’t a priority.
After years of experience in the kitchen, and countless hours in Nutritional Therapy training, Catherine and Danny created Aprés Food Co. The food is almost too delicious to make your body feel this good. So go on, order their famous sweet potato and caramelized red onion hash, topped with a poached egg or Apres eggs with slove cooked tomatoes. Good news! They can make gluten-free or vegan dishes even it’s not on the menu. Just ask!
Hally’s describes itself as “A Californian-inspired hangout in Parsons Green - all about innovative, fresh food, expertly-made coffee & a relaxed vibe.” We agree. The pastel color palette, windows streaming with light so you feel more West Coast beach than South West London streets. But we’re going to lay it on the table, the food doesn’t quite fulfill our expectations. This is a nice neighbourhood coffee place – good for porridge or eggs if you’re local, but it’s not worth the trip across the bridge.
Maybe you are not in Melbourne but the atmosphere is definitely here in this all-day Australian brasserie. How about pan fried mushrooms with aged balsamic & fresh cream or Brew breakfast salad with avacado, hens, egg, pink grapefruit & chili dressing? We love stories that begin like Claire Ptak’s, who started with a stall at Broadway Market, baking her scrumptious cakes home, before opening the cafe in 2010… Because it's not just an accomplishment, you know it's passion. Lemon bars, scones with cammomile apricot, tahini-cardamom buns, egg biscuits, vegan-agaves, salted caramel cupcakes. You crave, Claire bakes!
Well, well, well! Here is a coffee shop that matches its street name! You can go simple with granola & seasonal fruits & yogurt or big with avocado, eggs, elderflower, and blood orange. Everything is delicious here.
This is not just a breakfast spot, in fact, let's call Brew a cultural hub for mind and body. They show movies at La Luna Cinema, they organize ping pong tournaments, they help you find exercise buddies. And after all that, the food here takes gold medal! We can’t pick a favourite from all the yummy dishes, so in no particular order, here are our selections for joint-first place: Brew Brunch Bowl with quinoa, peas, beans, broccoli, feta, pomegranate & zesty mint dressing; sweetcorn fries with avocado, tomato jam & lime aioli; and Woodland mushrooms on brioche with natural yogurt, a touch of cream, spinach & pesto.
We believe Farm Girl is one of the most instagrammed coffee shops in London. At the weekends there is always a queue, so if you want to taste apple pancakes, farm eggs cooked with coconut oil or oven baked aubergine go on a weekday.
This green gem in the middle of Notting Hill is owned by Camilla Al-Fayed, but Farmacy exceeds its owner’s glamorous name. At Farmacy you will find no dairy, no sugars, no additives, no meat but lots of raw options. Our favorites is the Mexican Bowl. Don’t forget to leave a little room for coconut rice pudding or raw chocolate tart.
