Member of Tas Group of restaurant - and our favorite, Ev is a classic Turkish mezze restaurant and delicatessen located centrally in Southwark. Ev offers an exceptional Anatolian dining experience both with the menu and the atmosphere.
Big chandeliers, framed pictures on the walls, wooden tables and chairs give the place that authentic look. Every table is covered with clean, freshly pressed white table cloth which is a good example of how Turks take hospitality seriously but Ev is that cosy local cafe we wished was found in every neighborhood.
Ev offers a wonderful selection of vegan and vegetarian Turkish food with only a fraction of Ottolenghi prices. Meze vegetarian set menu which is a selection of hot and cold mezes served with homemade bread. The cold mezes included ‘Humus’ (chickpeas with tahini, garlic and lemon), ‘Kisir’ (a bulgur wheat dish mixed in a tomato sauce with crushed hazelnuts and walnuts and herbs), ‘Zeytinyagli Patlican’ (an aubergine dish with tomatoes, garlic, chickpeas and peppers), ‘Fasulye Piyazi’ a salad of white beans, red onions with parsley and sumac, ‘Yogurtlu Ispanak (Manca)’ which is a yogurt with fresh spinach and garlic, ‘Maydanoz Salatasi’ another salad option with tomatoes, cracked wheat, onions and parsley.
The hot mezes were: ‘Ispanakli Borek’ (a feta cheese and spinach filled pasty), ‘Falafel’ (deep-fried balls made from chickpeas), and ‘Hellim’ (grilled Cypriot cheese). We were amazed with how tasty every single dish was.
The outside of the restaurant is very green, lots of plant pots which hide all the bars and restaurants on the street.
Great service and also comes with a lovely outdoor seating area.
