This small plates restaurant in Brixton combines the ancient cooking techniques with modern British cuisine. Smoke and Salt offers out-of-the box cooking in a 40ft shipping container within Pop Brixton.
They definitely love the simplicity of seasonal and local ingredients. By bringing global flavours, ingredients, and cuisines, Smoke & Salt reflects the diversity and multiculturality of South London and the UK through its food.
The cuisine is very light and they use a lot of vegetables and less prime cuts of meat such as offal. The trained staff explain the dietary requirements and allergens on each dish. Our favourite dish was New Potatoes, with a creamy gorgonzola sauce and a hot-and-sour chimichurri.
They separate their food waste to be collected with the first mile, who using an anaerobic digester, turn it into biogas to power the national grid. Big applause!
Go to taste their experimental dishes. Smoke & Salt is innovative, generously-portioned food that manages to win on flavour and treats good ingredients with the careful cooking they deserve.
