The second venue from Wild Food Cafe lead by the executive chef Joel Gaznar his partner, Aiste, raw-food and well-being pioneers, has opened in Islington. The menu largely carries the same wild and artisanal ingredients with the same focus on nutritionally dense food with restorative benefits. As you’d expect, if you’ve been to the original cafe, the food here is completely vegan and also great for gluten-free eaters. We have to say plating is beautiful. As well as anchoring some of their most liked classics, the Islington menu features gluten-free wood fired pizzas, which is a nice addition to their largely raw menu. As one of London’s most adventurous raw vegan establishment, their pizza secures its place on our Top 5 Vegan Pizzas in London. The Upper Street space is Instagram-perfect and is quite a jump from their more bohemian setting in Neal’s Yard. Staff were incredibly helpful, even though we visited on an extremely busy Saturday. As it was busy when we visited the food came out at different times, some taking slightly longer than we’d hoped.

To go or Not to go
Islington is not short of vegan or gluten free food offering, but Wild Food Cafe brings strong competition for long time residents such as Ottolenghi. Perfect for a healthy, restorative, mouth-watering and fulfilling lunch with friends before a stroll down the Upper Street.
