Today marks the official start of the Chinese New Year, and it happens to be year of the pig. We’ve been thinking a lot about our favourite Chinese dishes and what makes them great, from fermented tangs to the fiery chillies. Chinese food has, though delicious, has garnered a bit of a reputation for its liberal use of artificial preservatives and additives such as MSG, a controversial amino acid claimed to cause asthma, headaches and even brain damage. But Happy Eating House, a range of Chinese cooking sauces and condiments, is on a mission to help change this reputation and showing that Chinese food can be quick, easy and much healthier to make at home instead of ordering in. Happy Eating House sauces and condiments are made with 100% natural ingredients, no artificial preservatives, additives or no MSG, which are great for making stir fry’s and much more. All of which are made by hand, in small batches in South East London and are suitable for those on a vegan and/or gluten free diet. Happy Eating House was started by Danni Hong as she felt frustrated that many of the ingredients she was using in her everyday cooking contained so many artificial ingredients, with no other suitable alternatives on the market. She began recipe testing on friends and family, and in April 2018 Happy Eating House was born with their first market at Deptford Bites.
