A modern take on Nicoise Specialties: L’ATELIER

Every cloud has a silver lining! That evening we initially made a booking to eat at La Chaise Bleu Gourmande as it was listed as a ‘vegetarian friendly’ restaurant with ‘vegan options’ on Trip Advisor. Our visit was very short as sadly there was no single vegetarian dish on the menu. With our hungry stomachs we started walking down Rue Gioffredo which led us to L’atelier a few doors down and are we thankful for that! L’atelier does not have much of an ambience but it is fine for a friends’ night out. There is outdoor seating as well as air-conditioned interiors. The wine selection is very satisfactory and there is a decent selection of vegetarian options. The truffle gnocchi in particular is a star. Their specialty is socca though, a type of thin flat bread made of chickpea flour that originated in Genoa and became a specialty of the Ligurian sea. There is a one-page socca menu with different toppings, two of which we tried were vegetarian (vegan option possible). What an absolute gluten free deliciousness!
