Shops We Love: Oliveology

One of the many reasons why we visit Borough Market so often is Oliveology, a family owned deli bringing the finest produce of Greek artisan farmers to London. We use their organic olive oil, produced on a family land in Taygetus Mountains in our kitchen. Made from koroneiki olives, told to have the highest levels of antioxidants and polyphenols. The olives are hand harvested according to strong traditional farming roots and are cold extracted meaning the oil remains rich in nutrients. From wild flowers and herbs to organic vinegar this shop inspires us for many delicious dishes!

Couple of things Oliveology has brought to our kitchen:

Organic Oregano Oil: 100% pure essential oil of the oregano plant. Besides its culinary use as a food flavour, it is widely acknowledged for its strong antibiotic and antioxidant properties. It has a very strong flavour so just a tiny drop on a bowl of olive oil or bottle of tap water is enough.

Propolis Extract:  A sticky but miraculous bee product with many healing properties. Has been widely in traditional medicine and known to boost immune system and works as a cure for infections, cold and flu.

The traditional Mediterranean diet based on olive oil and olives, fruits, vegetables, grains and herbs is considered one of the healthies in the world. For us it is also our childhood, every summer holiday and our mother’s kitchen. In this tiny shop within Borough Market, we find a wonderful array of goods from independent, artisan farmers in Greece with focus on quality and nutritional value. Oliveology also has an online shop and a blog. Visit their website for recipes and to stay up to date on workshops for adults and kids.
