We have been reviewing London's restaurants for their vegetarian and vegan options for a while now and thought it is about time to share our favourite finds. From intimate cafes to gourmet hot spots, we challenge chefs and restauranteurs to be more creative on their plant-based offering. London food scene is ever evolving and we are more encouraged every day. These vegetarian restaurants in London below have made it on our list for the quality of their food, creativity of the dishes and for their take on sustainability. We will keep supporting good efforts, as we believe it is the only way for a bright future!

Manna

This Primrose Hill restaurant is a classy option for plant-based dining in London. The menu respects the seasons with beautiful reflections of what the time of year has to offer. With this in mind, dishes are updated regularly, but we hope the coconut nectar and lime tofu steak sticks around for a while!

Mildreds

With four sites in London and a new cookbook, Mildreds has been going strong on the veggie London scene since the 1980s. Dishes are inspired by international cuisines and their burgers with sweet potato fries are well-loved.

Bühler and Co

Clean cut, scandi chic vibes and Climpson & Sons coffee beans make this place a bit of a Walthamstow gem. Hit them up at brunch time for a veggie fry-up complete with homemade parathas or for something sweet, french toast with salted caramel and hazelnut brioche bread.

Cub

If you’re looking for somewhere impressive to take your meat-free significant other, this is Cub. It’s mind-blowingly creative and explores a new form of sustainability.

Hemsley + Hemsley at Selfridges

While this restaurant isn’t exclusively vegetarian, we are fully catered for from breakfast through to dinner and they even serve a decadent yet healthy afternoon tea that’s fully gluten, grain and sugar free. All organic wines and kombucha cocktails win us over too. Plus it’s the perfect place to take a break when shopping in town.

Wild Food Café

Wild Food Cafe Neal’s Yard is great for brunch, lunch and easy, casual meals. Expect abundance, colour and lots of raw cheesecake-style desserts. They offer takeaway too.

Vanilla Black

Sophisticated, cool and fully meat-free. The menu at this City-based restaurant changes regularly and includes contemporary dishes such as smoked croquette and dried yeast ice cream with red pepper and almond milk purée. Intriguing!

Nopi

Veggies take centre stage here in Nopi so of course, Ottolenghi is the man behind this warm yet elegant Mediterranean eatery. Arguably the best shakshuka in London and come dinner time, sharing plates and wine are the order of the day.

Temple of Seitan

We had to have a fast food/comfort food option on this list and therefore, it had to be Temple of Seitan. This Hackney “chicken shop” has legions of adoring fans and there’s pretty much always a queue but once you’re in, it’s worth it. North west Londoners will be glad to hear that there’s also a second location in Camden.
