Vegan Macadamia Nut Cheese Recipe

This vegan Macadamia nut cheese recipe emerged when we were trying alternative toppings for up our vegan lasagna. It has since become the star of our crudites platter.

  • 125gr raw macadamia nuts (soaked for 2 hours in hot water, then drained)
  • Juice of half a lemon 
  • 2 Tbsp nutritional yeast (plus more to taste)
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed 
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/3 - 3/4 cup water



  • Mix all ingredients except for water in a food processor or high speed blender
  • Add water in small batches until a thick paste forms
  • Taste and adjust flavor as needed, adding more nutritional yeast for cheesy flavor, or lemon juice for acidity. You can also add herbs like fresh thyme or finely minced dill. 
  • You can eat right away or let it sit in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
